ITINERARY
 
1ST DAY • U.S. / SAN JOSE
Arrival in San Jose International Airport where you will be met by our representatives. Transfer to the deluxe Real Inter-Continental, Hotel Corteza Amarilla or Alta Hotel or to the superior tourist Irazú Hotel, or downtown Hotel Balmoral in San Jose .

2ND DAY • TORTUGUERO NATIONAL PARK
This the morning your trip to Tortuguero National Park on the Atlantic Coast will begin. You will depart to Limon crossing Costa Rica from west to east, descending into the lowlands of the Caribbean coast. You will be stopping for breakfast along the way, before continuing through several large banana plantations to arrive at Caño Blanco. Here, you will board a covered boat that will take you to Laguna Lodge. During the two hour trip, you will be able to observe small mammals, birds and wide vegetation. Afternoon arrival at the Lodge in time for a hearty lunch. Check-in, afternoon tour to the town of Tortuguero, dinner and overnight. Meals BLD

3RD DAY • TORTUGUERO NATIONAL PARK
Optional tours available at 6:15 a.m. to admire the awakening of the wildlife of Tortuguero. Return for breakfast, then another tour to explore the Tortuguero National Park . Return to the hotel for lunch and leisure time. There is an optional afternoon tour to the canals. During the turtle nesting season (July to September) you can take a night tour on the beach where you may see turtles nesting. Meals BLD

4TH DAY • CHACHAGUA AND ARENAL VOLCANO
After an early breakfast, we board our boats back on the waterways to reach Caño Blanco. After lunch our private 2 hour transfer will bring you on the new road directly to Arenal and the picturesque town of La Fortuna where you will get your first full view of this majestic volcano and, as the clouds lift, its awe-inspiring perfect cone. Check-in at Chachagua Rainforest Hotel to a lovely private cabin set amidst rich tropical forest. Dinner and overnight. Meals BLD

5TH DAY • TABACON HOT MINERAL SPRINGS & ARENAL VOLCANO
Enjoy an early morning self-guided walk through Chachagua's private rain forest, rich in tropical flora, fauna and wildlife. (Optional half day morning on the Peñas Blancas River for a safari float adventure $69, reserved in advance). Later this afternoon, enjoy the thermal hot springs against the backdrop of the active Arenal during our Volcano and Tabacon Hot Mineral Springs Tour. Keep both ears open for the loud unpredictable rumbling giant while you enjoy dinner as nightfall approaches. Return to Chachagua for overnight. Meals BLD

6TH DAY • SAN JOSE
This morning after breakfast departure transfer back to San Jose for check-in and
overnight. Meals B

7TH DAY • AERIAL TRAM
After breakfast our half-day tour begins crossing the Continental Divide to enter Braulio Carrillo National Park . After a half hour trip through the park, we will reach the private reserve and proceed to the visitor's center for a briefing on the project, canopy exploration and construction of the tram. A short nature walk will bring us to the tram. The well surfaced trails provide an introduction to the rain forest and a preview of the canopy you experience on the tram. The lower, outbound leg of the tram journey skims over hilltops and introduces the sub-canopy, a dark world of overburdened limbs dripping with mosses, ferns, and orchids. Lianas and vines drape branches and traverse forest spaces, and act as highways for birds and insects. The return leg of the ride reveals the most dramatic portion of the trip as the cars glide on the breathtaking journey through and above the airy canopy. Transfer back to your hotel in San Jose .
