Refuge is a delightful relaxing place with the

stay. Hike through diverse routes into the
jungle with river crossings, waterfalls, natural
slides, intimate pools, primary forest and of
course bird watching. Hiking activities may vary
in length depending on time and stamina. Over

Costa Rica, Ríos Tropicales has developed its
Lodge an "Eco-Adventure playground." Over 1000
acres of private property, 90of which is primary
rain forest, stage this magnificent setting for
play and relaxation.
Río Pacuare, a
quintessential magical river is the main highway
into the Ríos Tropicales Lodge. Having been
dictated as one of the best five rafting rivers
in the world by Discovery channel, this river
will not only thrill us with its rapids but lull
us to sleep in the darkened forest.
Home to
some of the greatest varieties of mammals,
reptiles and birds this paradise can keep us
busy and entertained. Monkeys, Coatimundis,
ocelots, sloths and even deer can be seen in
this habitat. Our different naturalists have
created bird list and over 200 species have been
seen.
Back at the lodge, comfortable rooms
with Cabecar Indian style architecture will be
our host. Gardens, trails and more waterfalls as
well as the richest view across the Pacuare
River are present company. River guides turn
into chefs and provide some very exquisite meals
during your stay at the Lodge. Private bathrooms

provides clean power for our basic needs.

The lodge is built on our family farm
which our father purchased in 1974 for farming
and wood exploitation.
Despite a logging
permit, our family decided to declare the
untouched part of the farm a private, biological
reserve ( 850 hectares or 2000 acres ). The
lodge was built as an alternative source of
income. This was a moral, not economical
decision, since it is unlikely that the income
generated by the lodge will ever approximate the
commercial value of the protected
wood.

|
|
Shawandha is the Lodge on the southern
Caribbean coast whose intention is to co-exist
with respect for nature. It features spacious
bungalows constructed in neo-primitive
style with an artistic mixture of wood and
ceramics with palm roofs, each of the bungalows
has its own individual character and atmosphere.
Enjoy viewing your natural surroundings from the
terrace either lazing in a sofa or hammock.
